Tampa is the third major city in the state following Jacksonville and Miami and it is the most important United States city positioned in Hillsborough province, on the west coast of Florida. Tampa is a division of the Tampa-St. Petersburg-Clearwater metropolitan district. The four-county part is poised of generally 2.6 million residents, building it the second largest Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) in the situation after Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, and the third chief in the southeast.
