France and Italy, the only European nations that have pledged to donate ground troops to the United Nations mediation force in Lebanon, said Secretary- General Kofi Annan should make clear their task when he travels to Brussels this week.
Obviously many European countries still vacillate to turn into greatly occupied because the rules of appointment are not apparent, Lamberto Dini, the previous Italian prime minister and current head of his Senate's foreign affairs board, said today. Dini repeated Italy's pledge to lead the prolonged UN task with up to 3,000 troops.
