Villas is a census-designated place located in Lee County, Florida. As
of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 11,346. Villas is
located at 26°33'18" North, 81°52'9" West (26.555003,
-81.869036)1. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has
a total area of 12.5 km² (4.8 mi²). 12.1 km² (4.7 mi²)
of it is land and 0.3 km² (0.1 mi²) of it is water. The total
area is 2.49% water.
As of the census2 of 2000, there are 11,346 people, 5,682 households,
and 2,909 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 934.1/km²
(2,421.0/mi²). There are 6,574 housing units at an average density
of 541.2/km² (1,402.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP is
94.23% White, 1.65% African American, 0.17% Native American, 1.17% Asian,
0.04% Pacific Islander, 1.33% from other races, and 1.41% from two or
more races. 5.59% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There are 5,682 households out of which 15.7% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 40.4% are married couples living together, 8.1% have a female householder with no husband present, and 48.8% are non-families. 38.7% of all households are made up of individuals and 17.1% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 1.94 and the average family size is 2.56.
In the CDP the population is spread out with 13.6% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 29.3% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 45 years. For every 100 females there are 87.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 84.4 males.
